After working in films like Salman Khan with Maine Pyar Kiya, Hum Aapke Hain Koun and Shah Rukh Khan in Phir Bhi Dil Hai Hindustani, Dilip Joshi’s film innings did not last long but when he came on TV as Jethalal His fate was reversed.

Sharing a funny anecdote of his fans, Dilip Joshi said, “Over the years, my identity has been lost somewhere. People call me in the name of Jethalal, not Dilip Joshi.” I remember once more when I went to Ahmedabad during the shooting and we were traveling in open jeep, then our jeep stopped at a signal where a poor man was asking for alms, then he looked at me and started shouting Jethalal loudly. For the first time, the popularity of his show was realized and also the responsibility of an actor was realized.
Dilip Joshi told that when he went to a wedding he found a woman there who told him that my old mother forgets everything but does not forget to watch your TV show. The woman’s mother must have been around 85 years of age and does not recognize anyone in her house but recognizes Jethalal and Dilip Joshi is very happy to hear such things how he is causing people of such age to be happy too.
Dilip Joshi, who left for Gujarati stage in 1979 and moved to Mumbai, could not achieve his film career, but he does not regret it, he says that there is a tough competition in Bollywood, I walked on TV. Friends, Dilip Joshi was born on 26 May 1968 in Porbandar Gujarat, he started working in Gujarati plays from the age of 12 only. He continued to do small roles for about 10 years, in the meantime, he completed his B.Com from Narsee Monjee College of Commerce and Economics Mumbai, where he used to study as well as participate in plays. And for his tremendous acting, he was also given the Indian National Theater Award for Best Actor three times.

Talking about Dilip Joshi’s film and acting career, he first made a small role in a 1997 TV show named Kya baa hai after making his mark in Gujarati plays. After which he has consistently worked in TV shows like Daal Mein Kala, Kora Kagaz, Do Aur Do Paanch, Hum Sab Ek Hain, Yeh Duniya Hai Rangeen and Shubh Mangal Savadhan.
Apart from this, he has also been seen doing small roles in many Hindi films of that time, such as he has worked in films like Maine Pyar Kiya, Hum Aapke Hain Koun and Phir Bhi Dil Hai Hindustani. He has also worked in Khiladi 420, One 2 Ka 4, Dil Hai Tumhaara and many more movies, but still he did not get much success from the films he did not get the recognition he deserved.
Later, he had to see very bad days also. He lived in unemployment for about 1 year before doing Tarak Mehta’s inverted glasses show, but he was confident in his acting that he would definitely succeed one day. Dilip Joshi said that the real Jethalal is not like that. Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah is a Gujarati writer, based on a series of satirical articles written in Tarak Mehta’s Gujarati seial, but the character Tarak Mehta has written in this series is not like that Watch it on tv. Dilip explains that Tarak Bhai’s Jethalal is a little different but leaner, he drinks alcohol and gets angry at times.
But we wanted to make it a family show, so we thought it was better to change the character a bit.
